Orange Head Roaches
Eublaberus posticus
Eublaberus posticus or the Orange Head roach makes for an excellent feeder as well as a great pet. A very hearty roach, E. posticus does well on either egg crates or a substrate and will readily accept a wide range of foods. Nymphs and adults get considerably larger than the more popular feeder roach, Blaptica dubia. The deep maroon color of the nymphs make them very attractive to reptiles and other insect eating pets. Both adult males and females of this species have wings and brilliant orange pronotum markings. Unlike its cousin, the Ivory Head Roach, Orange Heads are known wing biters and will do best kept at a higher humidity with a constant supply of food and hydration.
